Whenever we use the words "we" or "us" or "The Trevor Project," we are referring to The Trevor Project.  Whenever we use the words "our Website" or “TrevorSpace” we are referring to www.trevorspace.org.

    Personal Data We Collect

Personal data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable person. We may collect the following categories of personal data that you voluntarily provide to us when you use our Website, sign up to receive emails or other communications, or otherwise communicate with us, both online and offline:

    • Identification Information. Information such as your name, date of birth, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
    • Contact Information. Information such as your postal address, email address, phone number.
    • Private Messages. The messages you send on TrevorSpace are not displayed publicly and are private between the parties to the communications. However, we reserve the right to access or otherwise review messaging content to investigate potential violations of our Terms of Service, allegations of harassment or abuse, or to otherwise protect the rights and safety of TrevorSpace users or other third parties.
    • Device and Website Usage Information. Technical information about the computers and other devices you use when accessing our website, such as unique device identifiers, randomly assigned unique identifiers in cookies, mobile device name, timestamp, or IP addresses, and how you use our Website, including as collected by cookies and similar technologies.

    How We Use Your Information

We may use and/or process your information for the following purposes:

    • Providing Services to You. We use your personal data principally to provide services to you and to enhance your experience using our Website.
    • Improving Our Services. We may also use personal data to conduct analytics so that we can better understand our users, to help us serve you better, and to better tailor the features, performance, and support of our services and Website. We may use third-party cookies, local shared objects, HTML5 local storage, web beacons, e-tags, age tokens, and other technologies to enable website functionality, as well as for analytical and security purposes.
    • Communicating with You. We may use your personal data to communicate with you or send you information about services that we think may be relevant to you. From time to time, we may send emails with information about changes and improvements to our Website, other information that relates to your membership, or general news or services that we think may be relevant to you.  You can control whether certain information is sent to you using the features in the "Account Settings" section of our Website. You can also "opt-out" of receiving certain marketing communications by following the "unsubscribe" instructions in the email you receive, or by contacting us directly. Once you have submitted your email address to "unsubscribe," please note that you may continue to receive emails for up to 10 days while our system updates your request.

Please note that we may de-identify personal data by excluding data (such as name or email address) that makes the information personally identifiable. Our use of de-identified information is not restricted by this Privacy Policy.

    Sharing of Your Information

We do not sell, rent, share, trade or give away any of your personal data unless required by law or as otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy. We may disclose your personal data for the following purposes:

    • Vendors. We work with third-party vendors to provide, support, and improve our services.  These vendors can access personal data subject to contractual requirements protecting personal data and prohibiting them from using personal data for any purpose other than to provide services to us or as required by law.
    • Crisis Interventions. We care deeply about the health and wellbeing of our community, and thus we may disclose your personal data to law enforcement, state authorities, or emergency services if your activity on TrevorSpace indicates that you are at imminent risk of death or serious injury (i.e., if you have suicidal desire, a plan, access to means, and an imminent timeline).
    • For Legal Reasons. We may disclose personal data if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary: (a) to comply with laws or regulations or the legal process of a court of law, government authority, or an industry self-regulatory organization having appropriate jurisdiction; (b) to protect and/or defend the rights of Trevor Project, (c) to protect the rights or safety of you or third parties; or (d) to enforce our Terms of Service, including investigating potential violations.

    Do Not Track

Do-Not-Track is a public-private initiative that has developed a “flag” or signal that an Internet user may activate in the user’s browser software to notify websites that the user does not wish to be “tracked” by third-parties as defined by the initiative. The online community has not agreed on what actions, if any, should be taken by the websites that receive the “do-not-track” signal, and therefore Do-Not-Track is not yet standardized. Our Website does not alter its behavior or change its services when it receives a “do-not-track” flag or signal from your browser.

    Information from Children Under 13

Our Website is not intended to be used by children under the age of 13; according to our Terms of Service, users must be between the ages of 13 and 24. TrevorSpace may use age estimation screening to ensure compliance.

    Links To Other Websites

Our Website may provide a link to another website or Internet location. We provide these links merely for your convenience. We have no control over, do not review, and are not responsible for these other websites, their content, or any goods or services available through the websites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to these other websites.

    Security

We have implemented technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards to prevent access to your personal data by unauthorized persons.  However, we cannot fully eliminate security risks associated with the storage and transmission of personal data.

    Social Network Widgets

Our Website may include social network sharing widgets that may provide information to their associated social networks or third parties about your interactions with our web pages that you visit, even if you do not click on or otherwise interact with the plug-in or widget. Information is transmitted from your browser and may include an identifier assigned by the social network or third party, information about your browser type, operating system, device type, IP address, and the URL of the web page where the widget appears. If you use social network tools or visit social networking sites, you should read their privacy disclosures, to learn what information they collect, use, and share.

Collection, Storage, and Use in the United States

Our Website services are operated from within the United States, and by submitting your personal data to us, either through our Website, or by other means, you are agreeing to the collection, usage, and storage of your personal data in the United States as outlined in this Privacy Policy.

Please note that your personal data may be used by us in the country where it was collected, as well as in the United States, where laws regarding the use of personal data may be less strict than the laws in your country.
